LIVING AND WORKING AT FLAGG RANCH

Is Flagg Ranch employment right for you?

We are looking for the type of employee whose satisfaction does not come from a paycheck, but from the knowledge that he or she has made a special contribution towards the success of a visitor. If you are someone who loves people, loves working with people, willing to learn, flexible enough and willing to help out anywhere and anytime, and are enthusiastic and excited about other people enjoying their vacation, then Flagg Ranch is the place you should be. Although a seasonal job in the Yellowstone/Teton area offers many rewards, it may not be for everyone. If you are looking for a specific position or looking for financial gain, then Flagg Ranch is not the place for you.

Living & Working at Flagg Ranch

Flagg Ranch Employee ResidenceThere is plenty to do during your employment term. Visiting Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks will undoubtedly be the first on your list of “things to do.”

Summer activities may include: whitewater rafting on the nearby Snake River in the magnificent Flagg Canyon; interpretive tours through Yellowstone & Grand Teton; horseback riding on our scenic woodland trails; guided fly fishing trips are also nearby; or you may wish to take a scenic boat “float” trip where you gently float down the Snake River into Jackson Lake with a splendid view of the northernmost tip of the Tetons. All activities are subject to availablity. Wildlife such as buffalo, elk, deer, coyotes, and bears are common guests around Flagg Ranch and around both parks. Beware, they are wild and never should be fed or approached too closely.

The nearest town is 55 miles away, the town of Jackson Hole, which offers plenty of social activities. There you will find shops, restaurants, and other opportunities to further explore this beautiful area you can call your home for the summer.

There is also an employee Rec Hall which provides a ping pong table, pool table, fooseball table, TV & VCR, dart boards, and a computer with internet. You may also enjoy camping in the surrounding woods. We offer a 20% discount at our onsite gift shop and grocery store.

If working and living in the spectacular scenery of the mountain region isn’t enough, think of the opportunity to form friendships which could last a lifetime.

Dress Code and General Appearance

All employees are required to wear a uniform. Flagg will provide two uniform shirts for each employee. Nametags are provided and are to be worn as part of the uniform. If working in the restaurant you must bring at least two pairs of black slacks (no denim) and all other employees should bring at least two pairs on standard dark blue jeans (no pre-washed or other colors). Shoes must be clean and presentable. Employees will not be able to start work until the entire uniform is complete and approved.

We want our guests to encounter a staff that is professionsl in appearance and habits. Therefore, your uniform must be clean and free of wrinkles each day. Eating, chewing gum and smoking are not permitted while on duty. If you have a beard, mustache or goatee when hired, that is fine, just keep it neatly trimmed. Otherwise, report to work clean-shaven every day. Must have good personal oral hygiene practices, that means bathe and brush teeth daily. A minimum amount of jewelry is permissible; however, no facial jewelry is permitted while on duty, no visible tattoos, and hair must be clean and neatly combed.

Housing

We offer FREE housing to all employees.  Most employee housing is a rustic dormitory with usually two, sometimes three, people per room.  Each room has a private bathroom.   Those accepting employment here should be compatible with others and able to adjust to dormitory living.  Dorm employees are not allowed to keep pets, however they are allowed for employees with self contained RV’s.   RV spaces are available during the summer for employees, this is also provided at no cost.  Quiet hours are in effect in employee housing areas from 10:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m.  Employee residences are subject to inspection by the National Park Service, Dorm Supervisor, and other authorized supervisors.  Up to $100 can be charged to the employee's final paycheck if the room is not left clean. Any physical damage to the room will also be deducted from the final paycheck. The Ranch furnishes all linens and bedding.

Meals

All employees living in the dorm will be on the Flagg meal program. The charge for meals is $8.00 per day per employee which is deducted from each paycheck. If you live in a self contained RV you are not required to be on the Flagg meal program, but may choose to be for $8.00 per day per employee. We must be notified if you would like to be on the meal program, it is not automatic for RV employees. This is not a daily option, this is a seasonal option.

Employee meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) are served three times daily in the Employee Dining Room (EDR) during the posted hours. We have a varied menu that is intended to the needs of all employees. EDR food is to be consumed in the EDR and is not to be taken out of the dining room. If an employee has planned a day away from the property, a box lunch may be ordered ahead of time. We are not able to accommodate strict dietary requirements.

Laundry Facilities

Laundry facilities are provided at no cost, you will need to provide your own detergent.
